Yes, you can use FlameReader and free voices to convert text to audio files and distribute them for commercial purpose. However, if you would like to use AT&T, NeoSpeech or Ivona voices, you need to purchase additional audio file licenses, please contact AT&T, Neospeech or Ivona supports for more details
3Does FlameReader support Windows Vista, Windows7 of 64-bit?
Yes. Each version has 2 types, one for 32-bit, and the other for 64-bit. You can choose the 64-bit one for Windows Vista or Windows7 of 64-bit. Please note, you must choose the corresponding one, or it can not work

4Can I record my own voice and use it to read text for me?
No. FlameReader provides Recorder and Player functions. However, you can't save the recorded voices into TTS library and use them to read text for you.

5Can I open big files in FlameReader?
Yes. You can directly open big files in the reader window as long as its format is txt or rtf. You also can use FlameReader’s essential functions with the add-in toolbars in MS Word, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint and IE, without loading the files into the reader window. For other formats, we recommend you to listen or convert with PowerReader—a flexible floating mini toolbar.

6Can I convert large text files into MP3 or WAVE files?
Since converting text files into audio files consumes a huge amount of computer resource, we limit the text file size to 100,000 characters. We suggest that you split large text files into smaller ones and convert them separately. In such cases, “Batch Text to Audio Converter” function makes it more convenient.

7How come the AT&T, NeoSpeech and Ivona voices are not included in the trial version?
For licensing restrictions, we are not allowed to include these voices in the trial version. But you can use all the functions with Microsoft Sam voice.

8What file formats are compatible with FlameReader?
FlameReader can directly open files in rtf and txt formats. But you can read all the text in your computer with PowerReader.

9Will audio files created by FlameReader work on my mp3 player?
FlameReader can save files into mp3 and wav formats. If your mp3 player uses any of these formats, there is no problem in listening to audio files created by FlameReader.

10I've got FlameReader with an English voice, and I want to use another voice with the program, what should I do?
Take French for example, you buy a French voice in the FlamReader shop, or download a free French voice in our download center, install it, after installation success, you will find the French voice in the speaker list.

11Can I use FlameReader in my company to read reports, emails or other materials?
Yes, FlameReader license allows its use on the computers of an organization or company. So you can individually listen to all the materials. But we want to emphasize that you only can use it “individually”, not for commercial purpose.

12Can I use the audio files converted by FlameReader in my company, for example, on a website, in a presentation, on a switchboard?
The FlameReader license forbids the public use of converted audio files, including distribution within a company, in company materials or on a private website.

13I have purchased the electronic version of FlameReader. Can I copy the installation application on a CD?
Yes. You can store a copy of the purchased software on any data storage equipment, including a CD. We recommend that such a copy be made. In case of hardware failure you will have an easy access to the FlameReader installation application.

14Does FlameReader have command line?
Yes. You can use command line function to convert files into audio files without starting FlameReader.

15What products do you provide, what are the differences?
We provide four versions of FlameReader for you to choose. They’re Standard Version, Special-Needs Version, Premium Version and Flame Version. We want to emphasize that the functions of trail version is the same as the Standard Version, without voice, but you can experience with Microsoft Sam voice. Special-Needs Version is specially designed for dyslexics and people with poor vision. Premium Version has more powerful functions than Standard Version. Flame Version includes all the functions of other three, and some unique features of its own. You can see the details in Products Compare.

16Does FlameReader support other language voices besides English?
Yes. We also supply French, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, German voices.

17Can FlameReader read and convert text into MP3 directly in Microsoft Word?
Yes. Add-in toolbar in MS Word offers you a quicker and easier way of reading and converting text. Select the text, click “Read” or “MP3” button, then you can listen to it or create the audio file directly.

18Can FlameReader read and convert news into MP3 directly in Internet Explore?
Yes. We insert a toolbar in your Internet Explorer application. You can have your computer read and convert what you selected easily.

19Can FlameReader read and convert PowerPoint files into MP3 directly?
Yes. FlameReader can read and convert PowerPoint files directly by clicking on the “Read” or “MP3” buttons on the PowerPoint add-in toolbar.

20Can FlameReader read and convert emails into MP3 directly?
Yes. You can hear your emails by clicking the “Read” button on the Microsoft Outlook add-in toolbar. If your email is in other email applications such as Microsoft Outlook Express, you can use hot keys or PowerReader to listen to it.

21Does FlameReader have hot-key function?
Yes. You can let it read, stop, convert text to mp3 by clicking the hot-keys you have set.

22Is FlameReader compatible with other TTS engine?
Yes. Other voices like Cepstral, Acapela and more, as long as the voices can be used in Control Panel, they are available with FlameReader.

Generally, our products are sold as download. However, if you purchase “Shipping” with your order, you will receive products on CDs.

3Can I upgrade my standard version to Premium, Special-Needs and Flame version?
Yes. You can upgrade to a higher version by making up the price difference.

Registration
1I have lost my Serial Number, how can I get it back?
You can e-mail us, enter your user name and email address which given on registering the program and we will send you the serial number as soon as possible.

2Can I install FlameReader on two computers with one serial number?
No. Each serial number only can be used on one computer. For example, if you have FlameReader installed at work, FlameReader can’t be installed at home. If you uninstall the program at work, you still can not install it at home.

Technique
1Why some voices installed are not listed in the speaker list?
FlameReader automatically detects corrupted voices and doesn't list them in the speaker list.
Please uninstall the corrupted voices and reinstall them.
To test whether a voice is corrupted, please go to control panel→speech→text to speech→choose a voice from the speaker list. If a voice is corrupted, clicking on the "Preview the Voice" button will generate an error message.

2I can't see add-in toolbars. What should I do?
If you can't see add-in toolbars in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook or Internet Explorer, you can right click on the toolbar section in those applications, check FlameReader.
Or you can go to our software, Start Window→Options→Toolbar tab→check Show Toolbars→press OK to confirm.
Please Note: when you first time use IE toolbar, you have to go to IE toolbar section, right click on it and choose FlameReader to activate IE toolbar.

3Where can I find help on how to use the software?
You can go to our website → go to the product page → you can find the operation descriptions of each function. Some of them even show you with demos.

4Can the software read scanned papers?
No. Scanned Papers are pictures, not text, FlameReader can't read them.

5How to install FlameReader
Click “FlameReaderSetup.exe”, and follow the directions to install FlameReader is OK.

6How can I uninstall FlameReader?
First, make sure FlameReader isn't running, then choose:
Start→Programs→FlameReader→Uninstall FlameReader

7How to uninstall a voice?
